School Supplies Needed in Kenya

In the pre-school class at Ereri Primary in Kenya, the children practice lessons by writing in the dirt. Although their basic needs are being provided by BrightPoint for Children sponsorships, the need for school supplies and learning materials is still unfulfilled. It is the goal to get more sponsors to fill this important need and improve the education of these young children.

 In the higher grades in the same community, the older children have few writing materials and share just a few worn and outdated textbooks.

At The Trendy Boutique, we can help with this need by donating 100% of our Christian Bracelets profit to this cause.  It is amazing how what seems like a small amount of money to us, can go very far in improving the education of these impoverished children.  We began with this earlier post.

Summer!

Today is my birthday so I feel a bit nostalgic. When I was growing up, Memorial Day weekend was always the official start of summer. I grew up in the northeastern states so the weather went along with that concept.  Now I've lived in the south my entire adult life including college, and summer seems to start with Spring Break.  In the south, school gets out earlier so families are heading on summer vacations and kids are headed to the pool in early May.  In early August, school begins a new year.  Something about that has never felt quite right. I feel nostalgic for my childhood days of summer lasting from Memorial Day until Labor Day.

Trendy Giving

Earlier this month we began a fundraising campaign where 100% of the profits from our Faith jewelry is donated to BrightPoint for Children, a Christ-centered, child sponsorship organization through which sponsors can provide for the basic needs and education of impoverished children wherever they may live.  BrightPoint enables children to:

•  Receive needed food, clothing, shelter, health care and adult care.
• Attend school and receive a quality education.
• Graduate with a secondary school education.

We introduced two items, hand made by a local jewelry designer.  The “HolyTrinity" bracelet includes a sterling silver cross and heart among three sterling silver beads signifying the Holy Trinity; the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit surrounded by precious stone beads of aurora borealis, czech glass, fire polished crystal, onyx, jade and quartz.

The “Life of Christ” bracelet represents the life of Jesus Christ.  It is handcrafted in sterling silver,   amethyst, onyx, glass and quartz.  It comes in a beautiful gift box with the story printed on the top showing you how to follow the beads in the story.

We will continue fundraising ongoing for this worthwhile charity.
